JARI (Jiangsu Automation Research Institute) was built in May, 1965. It mainly undertakes research, development, production, system integration and project contracting in fields like electronic information system engineering, automatic control engineering, electronic engineering, software engineering and so on.

1100 employees include 36 research fellows and more than 200 senior engineers. It has a training station for postgraduates and doctors (collaboration) majoring in system engineering of control science and engineering subject.

During more than 30 years of its development, it has won more than 100 awards (including "State Special Award for Scientific and Technological Advancement") from the state, the province and the higher ministries, and passed GB/T19001-ISO9001 quality certification in 1996. Some civil products developed like rugged computers have been listed in the national "Torch Plan".
